Here are all my paintings for the challenge!!!!Next year I will paint all 30!!!

I decided to have another go at the challenge this week. Last day of the 30 paintings in 30 days!! I was almost done and decided it was just a ho hum rendition........so I really slapped on the cobalt. I wanted it to be vibrant. I have to learn that I need to really emphasize the lights and darks. So here it is ....comments welcome.

St. Thomas..Virgin Islands and Caribe Lager.........

The sun, the sand, the beer........A few years ago the Parker Clan went on a great Caribbean Cruise. We drank some beer and enjoyed the beaches. I think my daughter Meg took this picture......Thanks Meg.......takes me right back. The only thing missing is the lime.

Dang it.....missed Day 26 AND Day 27.....my bad......Here is Day 28....

Yesterday I went shopping to the city and missed the smell of my oil paints! But had a great time getting pedis and manis with my Guate amigas!!! We tried a new restaurant and salon all in one day.
So back to painting today.Yikes...only 29, 30 and 31 left. I have really learned a lot since starting this challenge..don't get freaked out or...TRY not to get freaked out about the little details. Slap it on and move on. I have learned something from each one of these paintings........I need to continue:) Cause there is lots more for me to learn!

Day 25

Lago Ayarza in Guatemala was the subject for Day 25. The sun was shining on this beautiful crater lake when we drove around the rim and I took this photo. The sides are very steep...yikes. For those who want to know...Wikipedia says, "The lake is a caldera that was created some 20,000 years ago by a catastrophic eruption that destroyed a twinned volcano and blanketed the entire region with a layer of pumice. The lake has a surface area of 14 km² and a maximum depth of 230 m. The lake has a surface elevation of 1409 m." Regardless it is beautiful!

Black and White Photo Challenge

The challenge this week was to take the black and white photo and colorize it. Some creative entries. I spent about half of the total time painting this getting the eye just right. Max had to be intently staring at something out the window.

Day 18 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days.....A Pair of Pears

On Day 17 I had time to paint two paintings........Wow. So I am using the second one today, Day 18. My hubby Tim was home half the day today so we vegged on the couch. Needed a little of a break, but have something special planned for tomorrow. Replenished my palette using the 1/4 inch glass. Yay!

Interior Challenge- My Art Space

This is my entry for this weeks Interior Challenge.
I updated my work space with this desk yesterday. Just a corner of the dining room next to a 16 foot wall of windows. Makes for a very light space to paint. I am very lucky to have this light as most of the casas in Guate are very dark because they are so close together. Most of the time they share the side walls so no windows at all on the sides. Yuck! The chicken brush holder is actually an egg holder. Guatemalans do not refrigerate their eggs, so they usually have a fancy holder for them!

My corner studio BEFORE...........And AFTER. ...

Before                               After

The company had some desks in a warehouse here in Guate..........I snagged one......Yay.. I is going to keep me organized........Right. That is what I am telling myself. Ha Ha.

Day 14........30 in 30. Cupcakes

This is my entry for Day 14....I painted it on the 15th because I went shopping with my amigas to the city yesterday and did not paint....Oh no! I was going to try and catch up today, but I got carried away with my Bottoms Up Bakery Cupcakes!! I will have to catch up manana. I bought some new brushes yesterday at the Galeria Rios.....I think they helped me create this.

A Single Zinnia

Day 13 of the 30 in 30........One of my favorite flowers.......zinnias. They come in all kinds of colors and sizes and are so hardy. Tried to slap on the paint.....Not worry to much about detail. Very hard for me!!! The challenge of 30 paintings in 30 days is forcing me to slap it on and move on. Go with it!!!!!!!!

Day 12- Mexican Flame Vine

Today I painted the Mexican Flame Vine. It grows all around Guatemala and makes a cheery addition to fences, arbors and walls. I an trying to start a vine in my garden to grow over the wall, but not sure if it is gonna go.

Day 10...30 in 30 Challenge

I have wanted to paint the Arch of Santa Catalina in Antigua Guatemala since I first saw it. It is so beautiful. The Volcano de Agua is just visible behind. The arch originally connected the Santa Catalina convent to a school across the street. This allowed the nuns to pass to the next building without going out on the street. Interesante!

Summer Fun

Yesterday I took way to long to paint the baby birds so today I decided to do something fast and quick. Slap some paint on........get crazay.......So I found a nail polish bottle, and some other stuff to serve as mini vignette. This reminds me of summer.......as everyone wants a pedi to show off in the summer!!!!!!!!!
Day 8 of the 30 in 30 Challenge. Painted this from a photo on Paint my Photo. So sweet!

Summertime.....Summertime.....Some Some Summertime........

I painted this for the Summertime Challenge on Daily Paintworks today. Looks fabulously warm and fun. A summer pic-a-nic. Tim's birthday is today, so I did this while I made him one of his favorite desserts.
No not rhubarb pie...my rhubarb here in Guate kicked the bucket......but creme brulee.
